About Dr. Blaha
Dr. Blaha was born in the former Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States at age ten. After graduating from The University of Virginia with a B.A. in Biology she attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she earned a B.S. in Visual Science and a Doctorate of Optometry. She has been an Optometrist for twenty years, practicing in Newport News since 2001. In addition to providing full scope optometry, her interests include specialty contact lens fits and diabetic eye care.
Dr. Blaha resides in Yorktown with her husband and three children. She is an active member of Rodef Sholom Temple and attends two book clubs. She is also an avid CrossFitter and enjoys skiing, and traveling with her family.
About Dr. Murphy
Dr. Murphy earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree in 1969 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. After a brief military service, he opened offices in Williamsburg and Gloucester where he enjoyed practicing optometry for over 30 years. In 2002, Dr. Murphy and his wife, Gloria, formed a non-profit corporation called Eye Care from the Heart Inc. In support of it's mission, they traveled sixteen times to Ukraine, Moldova, and Russia performing over 11,000 eye exams and dispensing around 10,000 glasses.
Dr. Murphy and his wife reside in Williamsburg where he is active in his church, the Rotary club and the Jaycees. He works part time which allows him to travel and enjoy quality time with his adult children, their families, and friends.
About Laura
Laura has been the office manager in our office since 2006. A Newport News native, she attended Ferguson High School and Christopher Newport University. In addition to working at the front desk and assisting with patient care, she is extremely knowledgeable in all insurance matters. Laura has three children and one grandchild (the light of her life). In her spare time she enjoys gardening, and spending time with her large extended family.
